The UKGC have fined operator FSB technology £29,237 for findings which were found ‘at a time when the Licensee held a combined remote operating licence’, relating to the period prior to FSB closing it’s B2C operations in the UK in May 2022.
Interestingly this fine doesn’t currently feature on either the Commission websites News section or enforcement updates, likely due to the low level of the fine which we imagine the office held a quick ‘whip around’ to pay.
It is a noteworthy point that the Gambling Commission saw fit to continue the compliance assessment and in turn fine (albeit a small amount) the operator with knowledge of them ceasing their B2C activities to which the fine related. Drawing specific attention to failings around Anti-money laundering, Safer Gambling and terms and conditions, no specifics were noted by the Commission further to this.
The Action on the Commission website does state that ‘Commission Officials note the immediate remedial action taken by the Licensee and acknowledge that the Licensee has co-operated with the Commission throughout the investigation. Commission Officials also note the Licensee ceased providing B2C services in May 2022’.
It raises the question of weather we can expect an influx of smaller fines which are only noted on operator licenced pages as opposed to the public statement format we are used to. Especially given Andrew Rhodes stating there will be an upcoming focus on tier 2, 3 and 4 operators in 2024.
